My Grandmother’s Pouding Chômeur

Ingredients

Syrup

  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

Batter

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 cup lait
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Whisk together all the syrup ingredients and bring to a slow boil. Cook for 5 minutes. Pour into an 8x11 cake pan.
  • Beat the sugar and butter together. Add in the egg and vanilla followed by the flour, baking powder and salt. Lastly, add in the milk and whisk until light and bubbly. Pour over syrup and bake for 30 min at 375F.
